1 Year

Today marks the 1 year anniversary of the original PHX VA scandal. As the outside world views it, things have gotten better. But from the views of those that use this system everyday. Not much has gotten better. Wait times are up, scandals are still breaking throughout the VA and no one has truly been held accountable.

I still struggle with my day to day with the VA and continue to hear excuses instead of hearing results. I have reached out and helped many Vets and steer them on the right path. Many are lost and have no idea how to navigate this system. I myself had that same issue. There is no standard and no true help from the VA to get you in and get you the right care. You submit paperwork, get approved, but then your never given a doctor and never even called. I waiting 5 years before my life was in danger of a clot and then had to go in myself to the emergency room before the ball started rolling.

These are just some of the examples of issues that the CVA organization is trying to fix. If you don’t know who CVA is then you should. Concerned Veterans for America, an organization made up of Veterans who are working to reform the beaucratic machine that makes up the VA. But we don’t just work on VA issues. We work on all Veteran issues. If you want an organization that has your best interest at heart, then CVA is the one to support. They aren’t of America they are for America.

Today at 430pm we will be riding from 114th Ave to Indian School Steel Park. This ride is not just for a bunch of Veterans to show our support and ride together, but it is also in memory of those that died because of the VA waitlist and scandals that have plagued the VA system of the last year. The ride will end and the Rally for VA health care reform will begin. This is a huge event for CVA and for Veterans. We need to be more proactive in fixing these issues instead of waiting until they are right in front of our face.

I am proud to be apart of the CVA organization and I am proud to be a Veteran. If you can’t make it we understand, but at 6pm tonight please say a prayer for those that have died and pray for their families as they mourn the loss of a loved one. No solider should die waiting for health care. There is no greater sacrifice then to go to war and die, but the least is to die of something that was promised.

I am a 9 year US ARMY Combat Disabled Veteran who loves this country and works hard to keep this country as great as I have seen it. I served this country to better myself and be apart of something greater than me. I have a greater purpose and it is to serve others and help those that other wise can't.
