Today I had my second ever claims exams. Now as you remember my first one was conducted by the VA. During that appointment the nurse, not a doctor, but a nurse took my information, asked a few questions and then let me go. Never looked at what I was there to claim. Now that the VA is so backlogged they are out sources claims to a company called QTC that is owned and operated by another 3rd Party company. I would say without a doubt its been the best appointments that I have had. Great people, very thorough and really care about Veterans.
Today my claims were for my right knee and my right wrist. My right knee has always irritated me and has always put a damper on my running, walking and standing for along time, but over the years I would just push through the pain and deal with it, you know, be ARMY Strong! In basic training during a “training session” I began running down a hill and BAM, my right leg went straight down into a hole, except the rest of my body continued forward. This is what they call hyper extension. Well, now I have several syndromes that the doc named off and horrible motion. He, as many, were surprised that I was only set at 10% disability and was happy to know that I just sit behind a computer most of the day. So they took xrays right there in the office and looked at them and he wrote his notes, let me read them, and then sent me on my way. Best appointment so far. Also during that appointment we went over my right wrist. I don’t know when I started having the pain and issues with this wrist but over the years it has started getting worse and I am actually rated at 0% service connected. It is definitely worse than it was 6 years ago. This has affected a lot about my job. Some days it locks up and I have to type with just one hand, I crap up just signing my signature, yes folks its my right hand. I had to go to a larger grip on my motorcycle to grip it better. So it has had a lot of affects. So he wasn’t happy that I work on computers all day and type all day. So needless to say, the appointments went well and I am sure I will most likely receive an increase.
To update you on the rest thats wrong with me…..No improvement on my disorder, no improvement on my back and because of my issues with my right knee, I have a left knee sprain. I don’t think there is anymore answers they can give me for my disorder and not much else they can do. Soon I should be receiving shots to stop the back pain, but don’t know how long that will last. But atleast the VA is taking action now, maybe on me, but I know many others aren’t receiving any care so I continue to work and help those that need the help.
I wonder how many votes I could get if I was in a wheelchair?
